Cozzolongo and Morris Named Most Valuable Swimmers for 2008-09

Junior Stephen Cozzolongo (Burlington, CT/ Lewis Mills) and sophomore Marissa Morris (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) were named the 2008-09 most valuable swimmers.

As an All-Conference selection Cozzolongo lead the team at SUNYACs in record fashion as he won the 100 backstroke (52.67) in a new varsity, conference and meet record time and scored an NCAA provisional cut. He also won the 100 fly (51.74) in varsity record time and was a part of the 200 medley relay to break a seven-year record for second place in 1:36.23.

Morris earned second team All –SUNYAC and qualified for the NCAAs in the 200 free, 500 free and 200 backstroke. At nationals she finished as high as 23rd in the 200 free. At SUNYACs she took second in the 500 freestyle in an NCAA provisional time of 5:05.47, crushing the old varsity record of 5:13.65 set in 1984. She was part three varsity record relays including the 800 free (7:49.78), the 400 free relay (3:32.91), and the 400 medley relay (3:58.63).
