Stross Repeats as the NECVA and Metro Rookie of the Week

Freshman middle hitter Kevin Stross (Port Washington/Schreiber) was named the North Eastern Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) and Metro-Division Rookie of the Week for the week ending February 15th. Stross earns both honors for the second consecutive week.

Stross led the Hawks to a 4-2 week, hitting .454%. He had two matches with zero hitting errors, including one against #2 UC Santa Cruz. The Hawks finished 2-2 at the Nazareth Invitational were Kevin was named to the All-Tournament team. At the tournament he hit hit .376 in 15 games with 44 kills (44-9-93), and 12 blocks. On the week he averaged 3.05 kills, 0.33 aces and 0.71 blocks per set. Kevin led the Hawks to their first win over #4 Stevens since 2002, which is only the Ducks third loss all season. New Paltz also swept #14 Medaille.
