Hawks overwhelming opponents in the SUNYAC
NEW PALTZ, NY- The women’s basketball team is 6-1 in the SUNYAC Conference this season and is leading several statistics in those seven games.
The Hawks ranked first in scoring offense with 72.3 points per game and are led by sophomore forward Artie Williams (Newburgh, NY) with 12 points per game and freshman guard Caitlin Irwin (Brooklyn, NY) with 11.1 points per game. The Hawks are outscoring their opponents by 26 points per game which is first in the SUNYAC.
The Hawks are leading the league in scoring defense allowing opponents only 46.3 points per game. They are first in holding opponents to just .294 percent from the floor and are second to Cortland holding opponents to .226 percent from behind the arc. The Hawks overwhelm opponents forcing 31 turnovers and lead the league in steals with 16.14 per game. They have forced 58 turnovers more than the next team and are first in turnover margin with 10.14 per game.
Carly Minehan (Albany, NY) is first in the conference with 3.86 offensive rebounds per game and is fifth with 7.4 rebounds per game. The Hawks are second with 16.71 offensive rebounds per game and are second in defensive rebounds per game with 28. Irwin leads the conference in three pointers made with 17 and Nicole Sarcone (Staten Island, NY) leads the conference with 5.57 assists per game and is third with a 2.05 assist/turnover ratio.
