Hawks are among the top in conference and national statistics rankings
NEW PALTZ, NY- The SUNY New Paltz men’s basketball team is ranked in defensive and offensive statistics according to D3Hoops.com.
The Hawks defense is 66th at 41.1 percent per game and is 88th in three-point field goal defense at .311 percent. The Hawks are ranked 33rd with 16.4 assists per game and 64th in assist/turnover ratio with 1.05 per game.
Junior guard Oppong Agyemang (Windsor, CT) ranks 20th in assists per game with 6.1 and is 33rd with a 2.36 assist/turnover ratio.
The Hawks and several players are also among the top statistic leaders in the SUNYAC Conference through seven games.
The Hawks are third in scoring offense with 77.6 points per game and are first in scoring margin at 12.7 points. Junior forward Lee Bertram (Bayport, NY) led the Hawks with 13.1 points per game and freshman guard Harris Wichard (Merrick, NY) adds 12.1 points per game. The men are second at .486 percent shooting from the floor and second in three-point field goal at .412 percent per game. Senior guard Matt Hauser (East Williston, NY) is shooting .429 percent from behind the arc which is tenth best in the conference and Wichard is 12th at .395 per game. Wichard is sixth with 15 three-point field goals made and is just five behind the conference leader. The Hawks are second as a team with 17.86 assists per game and Agyemang is second with 6.57 assists per game and is third with a 2.42 assist/turnover ratio.
The defense of the Hawks rank third in the conference at 64.9 points per game and are first in field goal percentage (.376) and three-point field goal percentage (.245) per game. They are third in turnover margin and assist/turnover ratio. They ranked fourth in steals per game with 8.86 and Agyemang is fourth with 2.43 per game.
