Women’s Tennis Falls to NYU 7-2

The women’s tennis team hosted NYU this afternoon and fell to the Violets 7-2. NYU swept the doubles matches and went 4-2 in singles.

The doubles team of freshmen Korina Kushnir and Elizabeth Stachtiaris won their match against Dama Lim and Stephanie Schara 8-4.
Senior Amanda Freedman and sophomore Lisa Mijovic defeated Lyndsey Lovinger and Lindsay Trifiletti 8-5, while sophomores Sara Joo and Lena-Sophie Krups completed the sweep with an 8-6 victory over Kerri Serkes and Calder Mills-Lexvold.
In singles, Stachtiaris lost to Lim 6-3, 6-3. Senior Stephanie Tu won her match over Schara 6-7, 6-0, 10-5. Freedman won her singles match over Lovinger in straight sets 6-4, 6-1, while Mijovic defeated Ingrid Maryansky 6-3, 6-1. Kushnir gave NYU another win when she defeated Serkes 6-2, 7-6, 7-4. Krups then lost her singles match to Juliette Brandon 6-3, 6-4.
New Paltz will travel to Oneonta on Monday for a 4pm conference match.
