Cortland Shuts Out Field Hockey

The field hockey team hosted 11th ranked Cortland this afternoon and fell to the Red Dragons 6-0. Five different players scored for Cortland as Brenda Semit led the way with two goals.

Cortland out shot New Paltz 18-2 and held 19-3 advantage on corners, with New Paltz taking all three of their corners in the last 11 minutes of play.

Jess Moore (Walden/Pine Bush) registered the first shot for New Paltz at 67:32, which was saved by Cortland defender Kylie Burghardt. Less than a minute later Heather McCoy (Sayville/Connetquot) recorded New Paltz’s other shot that was denied by Emily Gunner.

Elizabeth Tong (Woodstock/Onteora) posted six saves and allowed two goals in 26:51 minutes of play. Grace Watson (Bayville/Locust Valley) made two saves and allowed four goals in 33:41 and Elizabeth Dini (Sayville) played the last eight minutes.

New Paltz falls to 2-10 on the season and will return to action on Wednesday October 22, when they host Stevens Institute at 3:30pm.
