Women’s Soccer Falls to Vassar 1-0 in OT

The women’s soccer team traveled to Vassar this afternoon and fell to the Brewers 1-0 in OT. New Paltz held a 14 to 9 shot advantage in the regular session but was unable to capitalize. Vassar netted the game winning goal ten minutes into overtime.

After winning last year’s matchup in the final three seconds, New Paltz nearly had a change for a repeat performance. With time running down, a direct kick from midfield set up Emily Buckner (Pine Bush) for a close shot on goal that Brewer keeper Anne Hutchinson tracked down as the buzzer sounded.

Senior Sarah Boccard (Washingtonville) took the loss in net, allowing one goal and posting six saves.

In the first half, New Paltz came within inches of scoring, as Tanja Todoric (Spring Valley) laced a shot past Hutchinson only to see it rebound off the far post.

The Hawks fall to 2-3 on the season and will return to action on Saturday September 20th when they travel to Cortland for a 1pm conference match up before returning to host their home opener on Wednesday September 24th against Manhattanville at 4pm.
