New Paltz women’s volleyball sweeps cross town rival Vassar, 3-0

NEW PALTZ, NY- The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team swept visiting Vassar College in three matches this evening by the scores of 25-10, 25-18, 25-11 to stay undefeated on the season.

The Hawks were led by Samantha Prudente (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) with eight kills and four digs. Melinda DiGiovanna (West Hempstead, NY/West Hempstead) chipped in with three kills and eight digs. Stephanie Bova (Central Square, NY/Central Square) led the Hawks with 24 assists, four kills and one block on the night.

Vassar was led by Amy Bavosa (Eastport, NY/Eastport Southmanor) with seven kills. Mailynh Phan (Holbrook, NY/Sachem North) chipped in with seven digs and ten assists and Mary-Chris Arena (Fairport, NY/Fairport) added seven digs.

SUNY New Paltz improves 14-0 overall, 4-0 in SUNYAC competition.

Vassar College falls to 5-8 overall, 1-3 in Liberty League competition.

New Paltz travels to Maryland for the Salisbury Invitational this weekend.

Vassar College travels to Massachusetts for the MIT Tournament.
