College to test new mass notification system

The State University of New York at New Paltz is in the process of installing and testing a mass notification speaker system on campus and will be performing periodic audible tests of the new equipment between 1 and 4 p.m. on Sept. 18 and Friday, Sept. 19.

Members of the New Paltz community may hear a series of loud tones followed by a voice indicating that this is only a TEST of the college emergency notification system.

Once completely tested and installed, this new system is to only be activated in accordance with the college’s Emergency Response Plan and at the discretion of select members of the campus’ Emergency Response Team.

Anyone who has questions or concerns should contact the Office of Public Affairs at (845) 257-3245.
