2007-08 Season Recap

NEW PALTZ, NY — In 2007-08, the men’s basketball team compiled a 6-19 record. The Hawks finished the conference season with a record of 2-14. A few highlights from season included defeating Keene State, a pre-season nationally ranked team, 90-86 in overtime. A 75-74 overtime win against Buffalo State, the first win against the Bengals since the 2000-2001 season and improved their points allowed per game from 77.4 to 72.1 in the past year.
Sophomore Lee Bertram led the Hawks in points with 12.4 per game, rebounds (7.1), posted a team high 23 blocks and shot .447 from the field. Junior Matt Hauser added 10.1 points per game, led the team in steals (31), assists (82) and three-point field goals made (41). He was second on the team in free throw percentage (.746%). Adesoji James led the team in free throw shooting (.759%) and added 3.8 points per game. Seniors Jimmy Sugure and Victor Alvarez combined for 65 three-point field goals and averaged 5.9 and 6.0 points per game, respectively.
