Women’s Basketball Defeats Potsdam 73-56
POTSDAM, NY — New Paltz had four players finish in double digits as the Hawks defeated Potsdam this afternoon 73-56. New Paltz advances to 18-6 on the season and 12-3 in SUNYAC.
New Paltz took an early lead and led by as many at 17 in the first half as they never trailed heading into half-time with a 35-25 advantage. In the second period, the Bears narrowed the gap to six points early but that is as close as they would come. The Hawks led by as many as 18 points on a three pointer by Nicole Sarcone at 9:55, en route to the final.
Senior Sarah Salvo led the Hawks with 14 points, five rebounds and classmate Amber Sohns finished with 12 points, four rebounds, four steals and three assists. First year Artie Williams netted 11 points, Kristen Caban added 10 points and Maggie Farrell scored nine points. Sophomore Nicole Sarcone handed out seven assists.
The Hawks will return to action next Saturday February 23rd when they host Oneonta at 6:00 pm in their final regular season home game. All fans are asked to wear orange to the game.
