NEW PALTZ, NY — Sophomore point guard Nicole Sarcone (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame Academy) has been named the Women’s Basketball Player of the Week by the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC). Sarcone powered her team to a three-win week including two key SUNYAC victories.
Sarcone played the game of her career in the Hawks 82-67 win over Hartwick on Tuesday. She tied her career high of 14 points and set new highs of 10 assists and six steals to lead her team. Sarcone finished the week with 31 points, 9 rebounds, 19 assists and 11 steals.
New Paltz also defeated conference opponents Potsdam 74-56 on Friday and Plattsburgh 58-44 on Saturday as they advanced their record to 14-5 (8-3 SUNYAC).
