Men’s Volleyball Drops to Stevens; Medina Reaches 1000 Career Digs

NEW PALTZ, NY — The men’s volleyball team hosted Stevens Institute of Technology tonight and fell to the Ducks 3-1 (27-30, 30-20, 30-22, 30-24). The Hawks drop to 5-14 on the season and 1-2 in NECVA.
New Paltz claimed game one 30-27 as sophomore Michael Fink tallied six kills and Alexander Jackson added four kills. The Hawks hit .293% as a team in the first game. The game was a back and fourth battle with the last tie coming at 13-13 before New Paltz went on a 5-1 run to take the 18-14 lead en route to the final score.
In the second Stevens out hit New Paltz .567% to .152%. Fink led the attack with four kills for New Paltz. The third game Daniel Liberto registered five kills but it wasn’t enough as the Hawks hit .000%. In the final set of the night Ryan Huberty and Jackson paced the New Paltz offense with five and four kills, respectively.
On the night, Huberty finished with 11 kills and Fink and Jackson each added 10. Pedro Medina finished with 18 digs, surpassing the 1000 career dig total. Sophomore Stephen Pendleton dished out 40 assists.
New Paltz will return to action on Saturday when they host Purchase at 11:00 am.
