Men’s Volleyball Defeats NJCU 3-1

The men’s volleyball team traveled to New Jersey City University Wednesday night and defeated the Gothic Knight’s 3-1 (30-25, 30-15, 21-30, 30-24). This is the sixth consecutive win over NJCU for the Hawks as they improve the all-time opponent series to 11-2.
Junior outside hitter Ryan Huberty hit .545 with 13 kills and sophomore setter Stephen Pendleton handed out 36 assists and five aces as SUNY New Paltz served 14 aces as a team. The Hawks, whose schedule has been loaded with the best teams in the country thus far in 2008, proved their record was misleading, hitting .216 as a team with 57 kills.
Sophomore Alex Jackson finished with nine kills, five digs and two blocks, while classmate Daniel Liberto added eight kills and five digs. Michael Fink registered seven kills, seven digs and six aces while Pedro Medina tallied 13 digs and two aces.
The Hawks return to action on Feb. 16th when they host NJCU and Emmanuel in a tri-match, starting at 12pm.
