Men’s Basketball Drops to Potsdam 73-62
POTSDAM, NY — The men’s basketball team traveled to Potsdam this afternoon and a dropped a 73-62 decision.
Kyle Nelson hit a jump shot at 10:50 to tie the game at 14 apiece, before Potsdam went on a 19-3 en route to the 27-22 intermission. In the second half, the Hawks cut the lead to one on a three pointer by Matt Hauser at 17:01. The Bears responded with their second run of the night, outscoring the Hawks 16-3 over the next four minutes. New Paltz answered with a 15-4 run of the own to cut the margin to three points with 9:00 left in regulation. But that is as close as the Hawks would come before the 73-62 final.
Nelson and Hauser each finished with 18 points to lead the Hawks, while Nelson grabbed eight rebounds. Sophomore Lee Bertram tied his career record with a game high 12 rebounds. Jimmy Sugrue chipped in with nine points and Adesoji James scored seven.
New Paltz completes their season next Saturday February 23rd when they host Oneonta at 8:00 pm.
