Men’s Volleyball Drops Third Straight

RIVERSIDE, CA — The men’s volleyball team continued play in California Tuesday night against California Baptist and lost to the Lanchers 3-0 (30-19, 30-24, 30-20). In game one, Cal. Baptist jumped out to an early lead before New Paltz closed the gap at 12-10. The Hawks trailed by two at 16-14 before the Lanchers closed out the game on a 14-5 run. The second game was tied at 10 before Cal Baptist took control of the game. They led by as many as nine and the Hawks were only able to close the game to five in the final few plays before the 30-24 final. The third game saw the Hawks trail by one at 10-9 but that is as close as they would come, as the Lanchers sealed the match 3-0.
Cal Baptist out hit New Paltz .424 to .083 on the night and tallied 20 more kills. Mark Blair led the Hawks with seven kills while Ryan Huberty, Alex Jackson and Mike Fink each tallied five. Stephen Pendleton handed out 24 assists.
The team will return to action on January 16th against Hope International at 7:00 pm pacific time.
