Women’s Basketball Soars Past CSI 74-44
NEW PALTZ, NY — The women’s basketball team hosted the College of Staten Island this afternoon and won in convincing fashion 74-44. The Hawks opened the game on a 7-0 run and led by as many at 13 at 17-4 with 13:55 remaining. The Dolphins slowly started to chip away at the led and closed the margin to within three at 26-23 with under four minutes in the first half. Sophomore Nicole Sarcone hit a key three pointer at 3:10 to spark a 7-2 run to end the intermission 33-25. New Paltz opened the second stanza on a 13-0 run and never looked back.
The Hawks had three players finish in double digits led by sophomore Maggie Farrell with 14 points and nine boards. First year Artie Williams posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds and Kristen Caban scored 11 points. Nicole Sarcone finished with eight points on 3-6 from the floor, dished out nine assists and grabbed five boards.
New Paltz returns to action in January when they host Union College on Saturday January 5th at 2:00 pm.
