Women’s Soccer Defeats SUNYIT 4-1

NEW PALTZ, NY — The women’s soccer team hosted SUNYIT this afternoon and won 4-1. The Hawks improve to .500 with a 5-5-4 record and 3-2-3 mark in the conference. Senior Kelly Amendola opened the scoring at 6:18 for her first goal of the season as she followed up a rebound for the 1-0 lead. Four minutes later Amendola set up first year Rebecca Devlin for what proved to be the game-winning tally. Rachel Vanni netted her first goal of the season for the 3-0 lead in the 22nd minute.
SUNYIT’s Annmarie Spaulding made it 3-1 in the 33rd minute on a direct kick from the top of the 18-yard box. The Hawks closed out the scoring in the 76th minute as first year Maureen Cooley scored her first collegiate goal, with the assist credited to Brianne Miller.
Junior Sarah Boccard earned the win in net as she stopped eight shots. The Hawks host Morrisville tomorrow at 1 p.m.
