Men’s Soccer Blanked by Plattsburgh
NEW PALTZ, NY — The men’s soccer team hosted the Plattsburgh Cardinals this afternoon and fell to the #23 Cardinals 3-0. Plattsburgh took to the board in the 20th minute when Ryan Ormsby connected from John LoGuirato and Chris Mitchell for the 1-0 half time score.
In the 56th minute Allan Bronstein took a direct kick from midfield, which was headed out of the box by a Plattsburgh defender onto the foot of Robert Mendes who one touched the ball and blasted a shot on goal, saved by Plattsburgh’s keeper John San Filippo. Four minutes later New Paltz goalie Mike Judge made a diving save on a shot by Chris Taylor to keep the score 1-0.
New Paltz had several chances off three corner kicks in a span of three minutes was denied on each opportunity. Plattsburgh notched their first insurance goal at 83:05, followed by the third goal of the night at 87:53 for the final score.
New Paltz was outshot 14-6 on goal and lost the corner kick battle 6-3. Judge posted nine saves in net as the Hawks return to action tomorrow afternoon when they host Potsdam at 1:00 pm.
