Field Hockey Blanks Wells 6-0
NEW PALTZ, NY — The New Paltz Field Hockey team captured their fifth win of the season with a 6-0 non-conference win over Wells. Sarah Schloss started the scoring for the Hawks just 5:21 into the game on a nifty pass from classmate Lauren Nicomini. Jennifer Dietz found the back of the cage on a pass from Megan Flynn at the 18 minute mark to close out the first half scoring.
The Hawks came out flying in the second half scoring two goals in the first three minutes of play. Schloss got her second goal of the game just 44 seconds into the second half, then Jesse Moore weaved through the Wells defense and chipped it past goalie Beth Cereo 66 seconds later. Megan Flynn collected a goal off a pass from Gretchen Tucker at the 52.52 mark and Heather McCoy found the lower left corner on a penalty stroke at 64.32.
New Paltz outshot Wells 28-5, while Jessica Malone, Grace Watson, and Elizabeth Dini combined to for the shutout.
The Hawks return to action tomorrow when they host Elmira at 1:00pm.
