Communication and Media to offer video documentaries during Alumni Weekend

NEW PALTZ – The Communication and Media Department at the State
University of New York at New Paltz will showcase a series of
productions and presentations in conjunction with the college’s Alumni
Weekend on Friday, Oct. 12, and Saturday, Oct. 13. The events are free
and open to the public.

Professor Lynn Spangler of the Communication and Media Department will
screen her new documentary on John Burroughs from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday,
Oct. 12, at the Lecture Center in room 102. Burroughs is an
internationally known naturalist who lived and worked in the Hudson
Valley/Catskills from 1835-1921. A reception will follow.

On Saturday, Oct. 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Coykendall Science
Building Auditorium, Communication and Media students will showcase
presentations and productions that they have created in this dynamic
department.

Later on in the day, professor Gregg Bray of the Communication and
Media Department will screen his new documentary, “A Horse
Connection,” at the Coykendall Science Building Auditorium, from 7 to
9 p.m. “A Horse Connection” is an organization that provides equine
assisted therapy for special needs clients. The documentary is being
presented as a work-in-progress. A reception will follow.
