Hawks Finish 4th at Red Dragon Classic
CORTLAND, NY — The women’s volleyball team continued play at the Red Dragon Classic today and finished in fourth place, while senior setter Katie Becofsky was selected to the All-Tournament team. The Hawks faced Stevens Institute of Technology and lost to the Ducks 3-0 (30-14, 30-27, 30-28). Sophomore Brittany Coyle led the attack with 10 kills and six blocks. Becofsky dished out 15 assists and junior libero Nicole Mercadante collected 25 digs.
The Hawks squared off against Cortland in third place game and fell to the Red Dragons 3-1 (21-30, 31-29, 26-30, 24-30). Becofsky posted the first triple-double of her career with 10 kills, 41 assists and 24 digs. Senior Kim Braga tallied 13 kills and Amanda Brown finished with eight kills and 26 digs.
New Paltz returns to action next weekend when they face Union at the Vassar tournament on Friday September 7th at 4:00 pm.
