2007 Softball Season Recap

NEW PALTZ, NY — In 2007, the women’s softball team posted a record of 17-21 and earned a sixth place regular season SUNYAC finish. The Hawks finished 10-10 in SUNYAC and reached the playoffs for the first time since 1998. The Hawks were defeated by Cortland in the first round before being eliminated in the consolation bracket by Geneseo.
Junior Lauren Motzkin had a breakout season for the Hawks, leading the team in hitting with a .412 average, 11 doubles and 23 RBI and was named to the All-SUNYAC team. First year Dale Cornelius, joined Motzkin on the All-SUNYAC team as a utility player. Cornelius hit .381 with eight doubles and a team high 27 RBI, while classmate Melyssa Cilmi hit .352. Shortstop Amalia DiTrapani batted .324 with 21 RBI. Junior Kelly O’Hea posted a 10-9 record and a 3.26 earned run average on the mound.
