O’Hea Earns 6-5 Win Over Cardinals After 8-0 Loss in Game One

PLATTSBURGH, NY — The SUNY New Paltz Hawks traveled to Plattsburgh this afternoon to take on the #16 Cardinals in a SUNYAC doubleheader. The Hawks lost 8-0 in five innings, in game one. In the nightcap, the Hawks prevailed in a 6-5 win. No other stats were made available.
In the first game, the Cardinals scored four of the five innings to help seal the quick five-inning victory. The Hawks only recorded four hits in the game. Junior Michelle Reinke took the loss on the mound, allowing eight runs on 11 hits, and striking out five.
In the second game, New Paltz trailed 5-4 heading into the sixth when Amalia DiTrapani hit the game winning two run RBI double. Lauren Motzkin and Dale Cornelius led the way for the Hawks with two hits each. Junior Kelly O’Hea earned the win from the pitching circle. In seven innings, she allowed five runs on 11 hits, walked two and struck out three.
New Paltz stands at 11-17 on the season and 4-8 in conference play. The Hawks will face Potsdam Thursday afternoon before returning home to host Fredonia at 3pm on Friday.
