Baseball Falls to Ithaca, 5-2
ITHACA, NY — The SUNY New Paltz baseball team traveled to Ithaca this afternoon and fell to the Bombers, 5-2 in a non-conference match-up.
The Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the second before the Bombers came back to even the game in the fourth. Ithaca scored twice in the sixth and again in the seventh and eighth inning to open the game 5-1. The Hawks scored their other run in the top of the ninth but fell short.
Justin Buonamano, Alex Cadmus and Doug Chaputian each registered two hits for the Hawks. Johnathon Shanks took the loss on the mound, allowing one hit and three runs.
The Hawks begin SUNYAC play this weekend when they travel to Plattsburgh on Saturday and host SUNYIT on Sunday at 12 noon.
