Hawks Soar Past Raptors 3-0

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team hosted the Bard Raptors tonight and soared to a 3-0 victory. The Hawks lead the way through game one and two, claiming game one 30-22 and game two 30-25. In the third game Bard was ahead 19-11 before New Paltz fought back to even the score at 23-23 after a block by Jacob Moore and a service ace by Matt Weingarten. The Hawks then went on a 7-2 run to end the game 30-25. Senior Joshua Spiro led the attack with 12 kills on 20 attempts and collected 10 blocks for the Hawks. First year Tyler Collison finished with 10 kills and 13 digs. Jeff Lee collected nine kills, 13 digs and Pedro Medina recorded 21 digs. Weingarten dished out 37 assists as the Hawks advance to 6-1 on the season.
SUNY New Paltz travels to Rochester this weekend for a two day tournament hosted by Nazareth College.
