Hawks Fall to Lakers, 74-60
OSWEGO, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s basketball team traveled to Oswego tonight to take on the Lakers and were defeated 74-60. In the first half, Kristen Jackson hit a jump shot followed by a Kristen Caben three pointer to give the Hawks a 21-18 lead with 8:53 remaining. Oswego answered back with an 8-0 run before closing the half 38-28. In the second, the Hawks came to within two at 5:07 on a basket by Maggie Farrell. That is the closest the Hawks would come as the Lakers went on an 11-1 run to open the game.
Farrell led the way for the Hawks with 18 points on six of 11 from the floor and grabbed seven rebounds. Senior Kerri Kelty finished with 10 points and Nicole Sarcone chipped in with eight points. SUNY New Paltz falls to 13-8 on the season and 7-5 in conference play. The Hawks will return to action Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. when they travel to Buffalo State to face the Bengals.
