Hawks Claim 75-66 Win Over Bears

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s basketball team hosted the Potsdam Bears tonight and claimed a 75-66 victory. The Hawks jumped out to an early 11-4 lead at 17:42 before Potsdam fought back to tie the game at 16 with 12:57 left. The Hawks reclaimed the lead for the rest of the half, entering intermission with the 37-32 lead on a jumper by Amseshem Foluke-Henderson. In the second half the game was tied at 62 with 4:07 left before the Hawks took the lead for the rest of the game. New Paltz was ahead 68-66 with 1:14 remaining before Tony Cannon sunk a layup and two free throw attempts for the six point lead with 22 seconds left.
The Hawks had four players in double figures, led by Foluke-Henderson with 24 points on 10 of 15 from the field. John Hauser finished with 21 points, including 14 in the first half, grabbed a team high eight boards, dished out four assist and tallied four steals. Matt Hauser scored 11 points and Cannon finished with 10 points and four steals.
SUNY New Paltz advances to 11-13 on the season and will play their final regular season game Saturday afternoon against the Plattsburgh Cardinals at 4 p.m.
