Knights Defeat Hawks, 71-63
GENESEO, NY — The women’s basketball team traveled to Geneseo tonight and fell to the host 71-63. The Hawks led by four at the half, 36-32, before Geneseo battled back to take the lead at 53-52 with seven minutes remaining. The game was tied at 56 before the Knights went on a 9-0 run to open up the game. The Hawks were outrebounded by the Knights, 39-27 and Geneseo made 21 of 34 free throws compared to New Paltz who only sank eight of 14. Senior Jenny Driscoll led the way for the Hawks with 11 points on four of eight from the field. First year Carly Minehan finished with nine points and senior Kerri Kelty grabbed a team high seven boards. SUNY New Paltz falls to 12-4 overall and 7-1 in the conference. The Hawks will return to action Saturday afternoon when they take on the Brockport Golden Eagles at 2 pm.
