Graduate School to hold Open House

NEW PALTZ — The Graduate School at the State University of New York at New Paltz will hold an Open House from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, in the Terrace Restaurant on the New Paltz campus. In case of inclement weather the Open House will be held at the same time and location on Thursday, Feb. 22.

Representatives from the college’s graduate programs will be available to answer questions and provide program information. Prospective graduate students are encouraged to take their transcripts to the Open House.

The Graduate School has more than 1,400 students and more than 60 graduate programs that lead to nine master’s degrees and Certificates of Advanced Study in Educational Administration and advanced practice Adult Health. Among the newest graduate programs is a Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling. This 48-credit program is designed for students seeking to become licensed mental health counselors, as well as those with an objective to pursue studies at the doctoral level.

Also new to the college is a Master of Science in Music Therapy, which offers a viable career option for persons interested in both human services and music. Music therapists work in varied settings with the developmentally and/or physically disabled, special education, psychiatric and geriatric populations.
