Hawks Fall Short to Red Dragons, 75-70

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s basketball team hosted the Cortland Red Dragons Tuesday night and came up short despite scoring six points in the last 37 seconds.
The Hawks lead 8-6 before Cortland hit a three pointer and took the lead for the remainder of the game. The Red Dragons led by as many as 15 in the first before a 42-29 intermission lead. In the second half, Cortland was up 70-58 with two mintues remaining before New Paltz mounted their start to a comeback, ending the game with a 12-5 run.
First year Kristin Sitek led the way for the Hawks with a career high 17 points on six of eight from the floor and sinking all five free throw attempts. Classmate Maggie Farrell scored 12 points and grabbed a team high eight boards. Kristin Jackson and Carly Minehan each finished with 10 points.
SUNY New Paltz returns to action on Friday when they host Russell Sage in a non-conference match-up at 6 p.m.
