Kovac, Fairclough and Ruggiero Earn All-SUNYAC Honors

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz field hockey team had three members earn All-SUNYAC honors for their performance in the 2006 season. Senior goalkeeper Nicole Kovac was named to the first team, as junior Kaitlin Ruggiero and senior Justine Fairclough garnered second team. Kovac posted 46 saves in the conference averaging 9.2 saves per game for a .754 percentage. In 2004 and 2005 Kovac earned second team honors.

Ruggiero was honored as a second team midfielder this season. In 2005, Ruggiero earned first team honors as a defender and in 2004 she was named the Rookie of the Year and honored as as second team defender.

Fairclough earns her first All-Conference recognition in her career as a defender for the Hawks.
