Masterson Takes Third in 50-Yard Freestyle At NCAA Championships

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — This evening at the 2006 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, senior Joanna Masterson (Canandaigua, NY) swam to a third place finish in the 50-yard freestyle touching in 24.10. Masterson qualified for this evening’s final heat after swimming a 24.04 for a fourth place finish in the preliminary heat earlier today.

Junior Becky Weima (Caledonia, MI) of Calvin College came in first finishing in 23.30.

Masterson will swim in two more events at the NCAA Championships. She is competing in both the 200-yard and 100-yard freestyle. The 200-yard freestyle will take place tomorrow, Friday, March 10, and the 100-yard freestyle will follow on Saturday, March 11 at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
