SUNY New Paltz Women’s Basketball Bests Lady Bears

NEW YORK, NY — This evening the SUNY New Paltz women’s basketball team captured their third win in four games with a 64-52 defeat of St. Joseph’s College (Brooklyn). With the win the Hawks improve to 9-12 on year.

Up four at halftime, 29-25, the Hawks shot 45 percent from the floor in the second half to earn the 12-point victory. SUNY New Paltz (9-12) won despite a poor night from the charity stripe; converting 25-of-44 attempts from the foul line.

Junior guard Kerri Kelty (Valley Stream, NY) scored a season-high 13 points as did teammate, sophomore forward Amber Sohns (Delhi, NY), to push SUNY New Paltz past St. Joseph’s College (14-10). Kelty and Sohns finished with five and eight rebounds, respectively.

Sophomore guard Annamarie Ciorciari (Archbishop Milloy) led the Lady Bears with 16 points in the loss.

The SUNY New Paltz women’s basketball team will travel to Oswego on Friday, February 10, for a 6:00 pm conference contest.
