Bard Falters at Hudson Valley Shootout

NEW PALTZ, NY — Mount Saint Mary College men’s basketball team captured their fourth win of the season this evening defeating Bard College 82-49, in the second round consolation game at the Hudson Valley Shootout.

With 14:53 remaining in the second half, freshman guard Joe Hoyt (Florida, NY) converted a field goal to give the Blue Knights a 12 point edge, Bard College (1-3) would never crack the Blue Knights’ double-digit lead. From that point on, Mount Saint Mary College (4-1) dominated the game and took a 55-43 lead. Junior guard Mike Hoyt’s (Florida, NY) 17 points sparked the Blue Knights carrying the momentum into the second half, where Mount Saint Mary’s lead reached 33 at its highest. The Raptors could not defend the hot shooting of the Blue Knights, who shot 42.9% from behind the arch in the game.

Two Blue Knights finished the evening in double figures. Senior guard Julio Ramirez (Queens, NY) scored 23 points, six rebounds, added four assists, and was later named to the All-Tournament Team. Hoyt had a team high 34-point evening, collecting 17 points in the first half for Mount Saint Mary College

Senior forward Adam Turner (New York, NY) led Bard College with 18 points and three rebounds, while senior forward Josef Waldense (Asmara, Eritrea) finished with nine points, nine boards, and was selected to the All-Tournament Team for Bard College.
