SUNY New Paltz Women’s Volleyball Finshes Weekend 3-1

SCHENECTADY, NY — This afternoon the SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team continued the second round, of the Union Invitational, hosted by Union College. Upon completeion of play today, the Hawks advance to an impressive 16-5 overall.

In the first match of the day, the Hawks defeated St. Lawrence in three straight games, 30-11, 30-15, and 30-25. SUNY New Paltz was lead by sophmore setter Katie Becofsky (Altamont, NY) who recorded 16 assists. Defensively, senior libero Christina Butcher (North Salem, NY) contributed 11 digs, while senior outside hitter Andrea Kaiser (Blue Point, NY) finished the game with a dominate performance boasting seven kills. Making short work of St. Lawrence, SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team captured the victory and prepared for their final match of the Invitational against host Union College.

In the last game of the weekend for the Hawks, senior outside hitter Andrea Kaiser (Blue Point, NY) tallied 22 kills and 23 digs en route to victory for SUNY New Paltz. The Hawks defeated a determined Union college in four games 25-30, 30-25, 30-21, and 32-30. Junior Kim Clouston (Baldwinsville, NY) maintained the Hawk’s attack with 15 kills. Sophomore setter Katie Becofsky (Altamont, NY) registered a stellar 56 assists.

SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team will continue play on Wednesday October 12th when they host #6 ranked New York University at 7pm.
