SUNY New Paltz Men’s Soccer Takes Season Finale 2-1

NEW PALTZ, NY — This afternoon the SUNY New Paltz men’s soccer team completed their 2005 season 7-12, with a 2-1 victory over Skidmore College.

SUNY New Paltz (7-12) scored twice and never looked back. Senior Richard Randall (Spencerport, NY) ricocheted the ball off sophomore goalkeeper Jake Densen (Summit, NJ) that landed at the feet of freshman forward Chris Hotzak (St. James, NY). Hotzak placed it to the back of the net giving the Hawks a two-goal advantage at 71:39.

The Thoroughbreds, however, were not yet defeated. On an awarded penalty kick sophomore forward Van Haskell (Needham, MA) converted to bring Skidmore back to within one with just under twelve minutes remaining. With a strong team effort the Hawks were able to keep Skidmore off the board for the remainder of the contest. Freshman goalkeeper Patrick Carlucci (Goshen, NY) collected his fourth win of 2005 totaling four saves. Densen recorded four saves in the loss for the Thoroughbreds.

Junior forward Joe Fabian (Selden, NY) put the Hawks ahead early, scoring at the 25-minute mark. Fabian finishes this season as the points leader for SUNY New Paltz with six goals and three assists (15 points).

The following seniors played in the final game of their collegiate careers this afternoon; forward Richard Randall (Spencerport, NY), forward Colin Hillman (Trumansburg, NY), defenseman Ryan Shanks (Sound Beach, NY), midfielder Matt Soranno (Sound Beach, NY) and defenseman Corey Keyes (West Hempstead, NY).
