SUNY New Paltz Field Hockey Team Blanks Roadrunners

MAHWAH, NJ — This evening the SUNY New Paltz (2-8) field hockey earn their third win of 2005 with a 2-0 shutout of Ramapo College. Senior midfielder Lisa Wong (Colts Neck, NJ) scores in her second straight game to help junior goalkeeper Nicole Kovac (Manlius, NY) record her second shutout of the year.

Halfway through the opening period junior midfielder Kelly Proper (Red Hook, NY) connected with Wong to put the Hawks up 1-0 at the half. SUNY New Paltz (3-8) continued with the offensive pressure in the second half and netted a goal just over three minutes in, to seal the 2-0 shutout. Senior forward Shannon Stokes (Accord, NY) scored her second goal of the year off a pass from sophomore forward Ashley Smith (Selden, NY).

Ramapo College (3-8) held a 12-8 advantage in both shots and penalty corners, but could not place a ball past Kovac. Kovac tallied six saves in the win.
