Cross Country Teams Compete at University of Albany Invitational
ALBANY, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s and women’s cross-country teams competed at the 39th Annual University of Albany Cross Country Invitational today. The men’s team took a twenty-sixth place finish while the women finished twenty-first.
The Hawks were paced by freshman Sean Brown (Verplanek, NY) who finished 178th with a time of 30:19. Senior George Correa (Central Islip, NY) finished 185th with a strong performance at 30:47. Also finishing in the top five finishers for the Hawks were: Freshman Josh Tucker (Red Hook, NY) 193rd, 31:38, freshman Nick Faulhaber (Lancaster, NY) 196th, 32:05, and Harry Sudwischer (Copiague, NY) 200th, 32:40.
SUNY New Paltz men’s cross-country team finished 26th overall with 816 points. Led by a team of strong runners, University of New Hampshire won the meet with 99 points. University of Connecticut’s Max Feldman finished first with a time of 24:46. New York University was a close second with 128 points and Quinnipiac University was a distant third with 135 points.
Senior Kate Choromanski (Shelton, CT) led the women’s team to a 21st place finish. Choromanski finished with a time of 20:39 and a 115th place finish. Junior Alida Almelo (Groton, NY) crossed the finish line in 20:58 and came in 127th. Freshman Stephanie Albinski (Commack, NY) was 129th with a time of 21:02.
Rounding out the top five for the Hawks were junior Kelly Dunphy (Hauppauge, NY) who was 139th with a time of 21:28 and junior Jessica Waterbury (Mount Siani, NY), who came in 152nd with a time of 22:09. The Hawks finished the meet with 589 points. University of New Hampshire finished first with 76 points. Jodi Schoppmann of SUNY Potsdam won the race with a time of 16:47.
On Saturday October 22, the Hawks will travel to Potsdam for the State University Of New York Conference (SUNYAC) Meet.
