ELMIRA, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team shutout Elmira College in their season opener 1-0.
Freshman goalkeeper Sarah Boccard (Washingtonville, NY) picked up her first career shutout in her Hawk debut. Facing sixteen shots, Boccard made eight saves and kept the Soaring Eagles at bay.
After a scoreless first-half, the Hawks broke the stalemate at 54:36 when sophomore forward Stephanie Potts (Cortlandt Manor, NY) scored her first goal of her colligate career. Senior midfielder Amanda Picarrelli (Miller Place, NY) was credited with the assist.
Senior forward Jennifer Tuttle (Rome, NY) had three shots on goal for Elmira (0-1).
