SUNY New Paltz Women’s Soccer Team Cruises Past Potsdam
POTSDAM, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team conquered conference rival Potsdam 2-0 this afternoon at Turf Field. With the victory, the Hawks improve their record to an impressive 4-1-1 (2-1), while Potsdam drops to 0-6-2 (0-3).
In the first half of play the field was dominated by the Hawks offensive attacks. The initial goal of the first half was scored, when the Hawks junior forward Kerri Kelty (Valley Stream, NY) laced a shot into the back of the net. Midfielder Amanda Picarelli (Miller Place, NY) was credited with the assist.
The second goal of the game would come in the second half when junior midfielder Alison Fliegel (New Hyde Park, NY) feathered a pass to junior forward Keri Kelty. Kelty fired a shot over the head of Potsdam goalie Jessica Arnold (Geneva, NY).
The Hawks displayed their best offensive effort to date tallying a season high 23 shots. Freshman goalkeeper Sarah Boccard (Washingtonville, NY) recorded 6 saves and her fourth shutout of the season. Arnold recorded seven saves for the Bears.
The Hawks return to action on Saturday September 24, against conference rival Plattsburgh.
