SUNY New Paltz Men’s Soccer Team Finished Weekend 0-2
FREDONIA, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s soccer dropped their second conference contest in as many days with a 2-0 loss to Fredonia.
SUNY New Paltz (3-5, 0-2), who remains scoreless in conference play, managed to total only ten shots to the Blue Devils 19. Hawk’s junior forward Joe Fabian (Selden, NY) and two others totaled a team high two shots each.
Fredonia’s (6-1-1, 2-0) offense took hold of the affair in the second half. Senior midfielder Vincenzo Alfieri (Rochester, NY) recorded an assist on each of the Blue Devil’s tallies. Alfieri found junior forward Matt Mahaffey (Lake View, NY) for the first, and game-winning, score with just under 18:30 remaining. Alfieri then hooked up with junior midfielder Nathan Gross (Tonawanda, NY) with 2:30 remaining to give the Blue Devils some breathing room and help ensure the win.
Junior goalkeeper Masanari Hotta (Hyogo, Japan) made eight saves in the loss for SUNY New Paltz.
The SUNY New Paltz men’s soccer team will return home for their next contest when they will host conference rival Potsdam on Friday, September 23 at 4:00 pm.
