SUNY New Paltz Men’s Soccer Team Blanks Farmingdale
FARMINGDALE, NY — This afternoon, the SUNY New Paltz men’s soccer team shutout Farmingdale 1-0.
To open up the 2005 season, junior midfielder Jason Irish (Newburgh, NY) has been on an offensive tear. Recording the only score of the game, Irish put the Hawks ahead, 1-0, with ten minutes remaining in the opening half. The Hawk’s offense kept possession for most of the affair, out shooting the Rams 20 to five, and registering an eight-zero edge in corner kicks.
The Hawks had a late opportunity to put in an insurance goal when junior midfielder Brian Siergiej (Oceanside, NY) was awarded a penalty kick. Farmingdale (0-2) senior goalkeeper Patric Santiago (Baldwin, NY) made a diving save on the Hawk’s penalty attempt to keep the Rams within range
SUNY New Paltz (3-1) junior goalkeeper Masonori Hotta (Hyogo, Japan) recorded two saves and his first shutout of the year.
The SUNY New Paltz men’s soccer team will travel this Saturday, September 10, to play Union at 12:00 pm.
