The SUNY New Paltz Collegiate Chapter of the American Marketing Association recently received three major awards at the 27th American Marketing Association’s Annual International Collegiate Conference.
The conference took place in New Orleans from April 14 – 17th and was attended by 1400 students and 108 faculty advisors from chapters across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. Of the 380 AMA International Chapters, 88 competed for awards.
Representing the SUNY New Paltz chapter were faculty advisor, Professor Ted Clark of the School of Business, AMA President Peter Esposito, Executive Vice President Victoria West, Vice President of Communications Joyce Diener, Vice President of Membership Gina Marotta, Co- VPs of Marketing Research Tatyana Varshavsky and Jenna Waite.
The chapter received the award for best Marketing Plan, which was given for excellence in writing a strategic plan, analyzing chapter strengths and weaknesses, setting goals, and developing activities to meet those goals. Also awarded was Outstanding Community Service Programs, in part, from the unique market research projects conducted pro bono by the chapter for various charities. Finally, the chapter received the Outstanding Marketing Week Award. This award is for providing 5 programs within 5 days during marketing week and is intended to draw attention to how marketing improves the quality of life and to enhance to professional skills of its student members.
The American Marketing Association is a student association of the SUNY New Paltz School of Business. “We are very proud of our students and of Ted Clark. Their work is a reflection of the School of Business,” said Dean Hadi Salavitabar. “These students competed against colleges such as Penn State, Pace University, NYU, and Baruch University. Their achievement in New Orleans shows the quality of education students receive at our school.”
