Hawks Down Newbury to Move to 16-8
NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team, ranked 7th in Division III, raised its record to 16-8 this season with a 3-1 win over Newbury College this evening at Elting Gym.
The Hawks were paced by senior Mike LaRocco (Hauppauge, NY) who finished with 15 kills, six digs, five service aces and a .478 hitting percentage. Senior Chris Ganje (Halfmoon, NY) was also in double figures and had 12 kills, five digs, five service aces and a .500 hitting percentage.
Junior Kevin Buggs (Tonawanda, NY) had 45 assists while the Hawks as a team registered 17 service aces.
Newbury, who had its winning streak of seven stopped, is now 19-4 on the year. The Nighthawks were led by freshman Erik Kostanski (Hampden, MA) who finished with 20 kills. Sophomore Ken McNeeley (Forest Hill, MD) had 15 kills and eight blocks for Newbury.
