Plattsburgh Edges SUNY New Paltz, 53-48

PLATTSBURGH, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s basketball team dropped a hard-fought 53-48 decision to Plattsburgh in its season-finale this afternoon. A victory would have earned the Hawks a trip to next weeks State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) post-season tournament The Hawks needed a pair of wins this weekend and were halfway there following a 53-48 win over Potsdam last evening.

Sophomore forward Sandra Glazewski (Dobbs Ferry, NY) led all scorers with 15 points. Playing the final game of her collegiate career, senior Kim Weigel (Whitestone, NY) had nine points, 11 rebounds and seven steals. Weigel wrapped up her career in third place on the Hawks all-time scoring list with 952 points. With 240 career steals she is third on the Hawks all-time list.

Senior Tarah Norris (Port Jervis, NY) played her final collegiate game as well and had six points and four rebounds. Norris wrapped up her four-year career with 528 points and 411 rebounds which ranks sixth all-time.

With the loss, SUNY New Paltz ended its season with an 11-14 record and a 5-11 mark in league play. With 11 victories, the Hawks produced their highest win total since the 1992-93 season. In ’92-93, SUNY New Paltz had a mark of 13-13.
