Hawks Fall To Conference Rival Oneonta

NEW PALTZ, NY — Noreen Naughton scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Oneonta to a 69-59 win over SUNY New Paltz this afternoon.

The Red Dragons (13-7, 7-4) jumped out to an 18-8 lead in the first seven minutes of the first half. SUNY New Paltz, who was coming off a 59-41 win over Russell Sage last evening, pulled to within four on a three-point field goal by Kristin Jackson (East Islip, NY) with 8:10 remaining in the half. After Jackson’s three-pointer cut the Oneonta lead to 22-18, the Red Dragons outscored the Hawks 9-0 in the next two minutes to increase their advantage to 31-18 at the six-minute mark.

The Red Dragons carried a 40-24 lead into the half and maintained a double figure lead throughout most of the second half and led by as many as 20 with 16:25 to play.

Sandra Glazewski (Dobbs Ferry, NY) and Sarah Salvo (Manorville, NY) each had 11 points for SUNY New Paltz. Glazewski also pulled down 10 rebounds in the loss. SUNY New Paltz is now 10-10 overall and 4-7 in the SUNYAC.
