Hawks Cruise To Seventh Straight Win

BROOKLYN, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 sweep over Polytechnic this afternoon. The victory extended the current Hawks’ winning streak to seven and helped SUNY New Paltz improve to 9-5 overall and 4-2 in the Metro Division of the North Eastern Collegiate Volleyball Association.

The Hawks took the opening game 30-23 and followed that up with wins of 30-17 and 30-20. Sophomore Joshua Spiro (Island Park, NY) led the way with nine kills and a .571 hitting percentage. Senior Mike LaRocco (Hauppauge, NY) added eight kills and senior Chris Ganje (Halfmoon, NY) contributed six kills. Junior Kevin Buggs (Tonawanda, NY) registered 19 assists to help the Hawks record their fifth 3-0 victory of the season.

SUNY New Paltz will return to action on Wednesday (Feb. 23) against Vassar at 7:30 p.m. in Elting Gym.
