SUNY New Paltz Falls to 14th Ranked Potsdam

NEW PALTZ, NY — Fourteenth ranked Potsdam remained undefeated on the year with an 85-70 win over SUNY New Paltz this evening at Elting Gym.

The Bears (12-0, 4-0) placed four players in double figures and were led by senior guard Jim Connelly (Cayuga, NY) who came off the bench to score 16 points. Senior Evril Clayton (Albany, NY) and senior Elden Harris (Albany, NY) each had 15 points and senior forward Christian Turner (Central Square, NY) added 12 points to keep the Bears undefeated recond intact.

Potsdam, who had dropped three of its last four to SUNY New Paltz, opened up a 12-point lead with 5:45 remaining in the first half when senior guard Edane Barton (Spring Valley, NJ) sank a three-point field goal. Barton’s three-pointer capped off quick a 9-2 run by the Bears over a three-minute span.

Senior guard Michael Brooks (Utica, NY) then added a three-pointer with 1:40 left in the half to carry the Bears into the lockeroom in front 42-26.

SUNY New Paltz (5-6, 1-3) was led by sophomore forward Amseshem Foluke-Henderson (Jamaica, NY) who had a game-high 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field. Sophomore guard John Hauser (East Williston, NY) had 17 points and five rebounds.
