SUNY New Paltz Field Hockey Team Qualifies for State Tournament

NEW PALTZ, NY — For the second time in three years, the SUNY New Paltz field hockey team has qualified for the New York State Women’s Collegiate Athletic Association (NYSWCAA) Tournament.

The Hawks are seeded fourth among the four-team field and will play top-seeded and host Oneonta on Saturday (Nov. 6) at 1:30 p.m. The Red Dragons (13-6) defeated SUNY New Paltz 1-0 when the two conference rivals met on Sept. 22 in Oneonta.

Under third-year Head Coach Bill Davidson, the SUNY New Paltz field hockey team went 8-11 this fall. The Hawks set a school record for victories in a single-season, surpassing the previous mark of five wins set by the 2003 squad.

The NYSWCAA Tournament field also features second-seeded Ithaca (6-10) and third-seeded Brockport (10-9). The Bombers and Golden Eagles will play on Saturday (Nov. 6) at Oneonta following the New Paltz-Oneonta contest.

The championship game is scheduled for Sunday (Nov.7) at 2:00 p.m. at Oneonta.
